Organic Explained

Soil is the foundation of healthy plants and trees. The soil contains millions of bacteria, fungi and living micro organisms. All of these are crucial for the natural process and recycling of nutrients. Chemicals interrupt and even kill this natural process, contaminating the ground water; water that goes into both our wells and streams.

Organic matter such as compost or mulch feeds the soil, reduces erosion and compaction and provides the foundation for healthy stress free plants. Healthy, natural systems ensure that populations of beneficial insects, birds and mammals keep damaging pest species in check. As our natural systems sustain themselves, these healthy trees and plants will be inherently less susceptible to attack from insects and disease and therefore less apt to weaken or die.

By carefully selecting the "Right Plant in the Right Place," we maximize the promise that it will flourish, without the need for toxic chemicals to promote vigor. Our children, our pets and our environment remain safer while the beauty and vigor is naturally enhanced.

"We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect."
